Quality Assurance and Testing
Our product has been developed by the team at the University of Melbourne and extensively tested both in laboratory under various loading conditions and in field under real traffic loads by independent labs and companies.
Its performance in all of the tests including flexural beam, compressive strength, fatigue beam, one-dimensional compressibility, leachate test, repeated load triaxial, double-ring infiltration test, skid resistance, lightweight deflectometer has been satisfactory and used for further optimisation and quality control.
Flexural Strength
Testing the flexibility of our product under very extreme loading conditions and no supporting layer underneath. The material is flexible and can tolerate imposed displacements and loads.
Standard: AS 1012.2000 – Determination of Modulus of Rupture
Compressive Strength
Measuring the ultimate compressive strength of the material under very extreme conditions where there is no confinement. The results are used for optimisation.
Standard: ASTM D5102-09 – Standard Test Method for Unconfined Compressive Strength of Compacted Soil-Lime Mixtures.
Fatigue Test (cyclic loading)
Testing the performance under cyclic loads with a certain amplitude over very high loading cycles.
Guideline: AustRoads Guidelines – Development and evaluation of protocols for the laboratory characterisation of cemented materials
Double Ring Infiltration Test
Testing for the infiltration rates to study the performance of the material in real field conditions over time and the possibility of clogging and required maintenance.
Standard: ASTM D3385-18 – Standard Test Method for Infiltration Rate of Soils in Field Using Double-Ring Infiltrometer
Repeated Load Triaxial Test
Testing the behaviour of the material under a certain repeated loading program simulating the traffic.
Guideline: AG:PT/T053 – Determination of permanent deformation and resilient modulus characteristics of unbound granular materials under drained conditions
Leachate Test
Testing to identify the possibility of environmental risks over the pavement life associated with the use of recycled tyres in terms of leachate concentration.
Standard: AS4439.3-1997 – Wastes, sediments and contaminated soils: Part 3 preparation of leachates-bottle leaching procedure
1D Compressibility Test
Testing for compressibility behaviour and deformation recovery under monotonic loads in one-dimensional conditions (zero lateral strain).
Standard: ASTM D2435-11 – Standard Test Methods for One-Dimensional Consolidation Properties of Soils Using Incremental Loading
Light Weight Deflectometer
Testing the behaviour of the pavement in the real field under dynamic loads (simulated by a controlled drop of a certain weight from a certain height). The results are mainly used for optimisation and quality control.
Standard: ASTM E2583-15 – Standard Test Method for Measuring Deflections with a Light Weight Deflectometer (LWD).
Skid Resistance Test
Measuring the skid resistance of the product in dry and wet conditions. The product meets the requirements for the applications it is being used.
Standard: AS 4663: 2013 – Slip resistance measurement of existing pedestrian surfaces
